Auto Super Safety Check

Don't wait for your WOF

From 1 November 2026, Warrant of Fitness (WoF) rules change for many New Zealand vehicles. For some drivers, that means more time between compulsory safety inspections. Your vehicle still needs regular attention in between its WoF to make sure you and your family are safe.

Book an Auto Super Safety Check at least every 12 months. Our 50-point vehicle condition check gives you a clear picture of key items such as tyres, brakes, lights, steering, suspension, fluids and warning lights - before a small concern becomes a bigger more costly repair or even worse compromises your vehicle’s performance and safety.

A better reason to visit than waiting for a due date

A WoF confirms whether a vehicle meets the required standard on the day it is inspected. It does not guarantee your vehicle’s safety until your next WoF inspection, replace regular servicing or the need to pay attention to changes in your vehicle. An Auto Super Safety Check helps you stay informed between WoFs.

The new WOF law changes: what you need to know

The changes take effect from 1 November 2026. WoF frequencies change for some light vehicles, but not every vehicle moves to a two-year cycle at once. Vehicles registered on or after 1 November 2019 that fall within the relevant age range move first; vehicles registered between 1 November 2013 and 31 October 2019 ove from 1 November 2027. Light vehicles aged 14 to 26 remain on annual WoFs. Check the official NZ Transport Agency information for the rules that apply to your vehicle.
