About the service
The Auto Super Safety Check is a 50-point visual vehicle-condition check offered by participating Auto Super Shoppes workshops. The contract for the check is between you and the workshop that performs it. Auto Super Shoppes Limited supports the programme but does not perform the inspection or repair work.
What the check is - and is not
The check records the condition of the listed items as observed by an Auto Super Shoppes Technician at the time of inspection. It is not a Warrant of Fitness inspection, is not an inspection or certification under the Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Standards Compliance, and does not issue, extend, replace or change any WoF requirement or expiry date.
The check is a visual, non-destructive assessment of accessible items. Unless separately agreed, it does not involve dismantling, specialist testing, road testing beyond what the workshop considers appropriate, or diagnosis of concealed, intermittent or internal faults. A Pass result means the technician did not identify a concern with that listed item at the time of the check. It does not guarantee the future condition, performance, roadworthiness or reliability of the vehicle or any component.
Results and recommendations
Results may be recorded as Pass, Monitor, Attention Required or Not applicable. Where the workshop identifies an item requiring attention, it may recommend further inspection, maintenance or repair. A Attention Required result means the workshop considers prompt discussion or action is appropriate. If the workshop advises against driving the vehicle, you should seriously consider not continuing to use it.
Your responsibilities
You remain responsible for keeping your vehicle maintained, legally compliant and suitable for use. Arrange appropriate attention if you notice a warning light, unusual noise, vibration, leak, reduced braking performance, steering change, impact damage or another change in how the vehicle operates. Follow manufacturer servicing recommendations and any advice provided by the workshop.
Price, availability and repairs
The recommended retail price is $50. Participating workshops independently set their own prices and may offer the check at another price, or as part of another service. Confirm price, timing and availability with the workshop before the work starts. The workshop will seek your approval before carrying out repair work that is outside the agreed check, unless you have separately authorised that work.
Consumer rights
Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986. Services supplied to consumers must be carried out with reasonable care and skill. Any business-to-business contracting-out arrangement must be agreed separately in writing and applies only where New Zealand law permits it.
Privacy and records
The inspecting workshop may retain the completed check, vehicle details, recommendations and your contact information to administer the service, communicate with you and meet legal or business record-keeping requirements. The workshop will handle personal information under its privacy policy and applicable New Zealand privacy law. Contact the workshop if you want a copy of the completed check or have a privacy question.
Questions or concerns
Raise any question about the check, results or recommended work directly with the workshop that carried out the check. These terms are governed by New Zealand law.
