Frequently Asked Questions about WOF Repairs

What are the most common reasons for a WOF failure in New Zealand?

The majority of WOF failures are due to simple items like worn tyres (tread depth below 1.5mm), blown light bulbs (headlights, brake lights, indicators), worn wiper blades, and minor brake or suspension component wear.

What should I do after my car has failed its Warrant of Fitness (WOF)?

You must not drive the car on the road unless you are taking it directly for repairs. We will provide a quote for the required repairs and rebook you for the WOF recheck after the work is complete.

Is the WOF recheck free if Auto Super Shoppe completes the repairs?

Yes - usually. If the required WOF repairs are completed by the same Auto Super Shoppe workshop within 28 days of the initial failure, the re-inspection for those specific items is free of charge.

Do I have to get my WOF repairs done at the same place that failed it?

No, you can have your repairs done at any qualified workshop. However, having Auto Super Shoppes do the repair and the recheck ensures you receive the free re-inspection.

Is a service the same as a WOF inspection?

No. A WOF is a mandatory safety check to ensure your car meets minimum legal standards. A service is maintenance (oil, filters, tune-up) designed to keep your car running smoothly and reliably over time.
