ASSAA Terms and Conditions

Entry into the ASSAA is strictly limited to 15 placements per intake, 3 intakes per year.

Students must complete an ASSAA online application form, provide written references from two current teachers and/or employers and be available to attend an interview in Auckland or via Skype.

Student must show a copy of their New Zealand birth Certi cate or proof of New Zealand residency.

Student must hold a full or restricted New Zealand drivers license and that has had no more than 30 demerit points deducted.

Full disclosure of any criminal and traf c infringements (past, current, or pending) must accompany the application.

A parent or caregiver will also be required to attend a portion of the interview to ensure they are 100% supportive of the students chosen career path and will offer every assistance and encouragement for them to succeed along the way.

A 20% deposit is payable upon application and will be refunded in full if the application is not successful.

The balance is payable upon acceptance into the course.

If a student withdraws their application;

  • 60 Days prior to commencing the course they will receive a full refund of any deposit or course costs paid.
  • 30 days prior to commencing they will receive a 50% refund of any deposit or course costs paid.
  • Less than 14 days prior to commencement of the course a refund will only be paid if the students position on the course can still be lled at such short notice.
  • All money received will be held in a Trust account until it is deemed not refundable.


Upon Completion of the Course

All students will be given an ASSAA Completion Report. This report will outline;

  • The course content
  • The student's key competencies
  • The marks they received on each module
  • Comments from the Tutor on the attendance and attitude the student demonstrated during the 12-week course.
  • Con rmation that the Student has either Graduated from the Academy, or has completed the 12 weeks but did not gain a certi cate of Graduation.
  • The ASSAA Completion Report will be discussed with the student and a member of the Auto Super Shoppes Management team in week eleven. A Parent, Caregiver of other such support person is welcome to attend this meeting.
  • Our commitment to regular individual reviews tailored to the student and their progress and open, honest communication between the course Tutor and each student will mean that no part of the ASSAA Completion Report content will be unexpected.


Graduation criteria

  • Students must achieve a pass result on each training module as assessed by the tutor. If the student fails any module an opportunity for feedback from the tutor, additional training and a re-sit will be available to them one time. The re-sit mark will replace the original result.
  • In addition to achieving a pass result in respect of the course content on each training module, students will also be assessed on their attendance, participation, overall attitude and personal presentation. Feedback will be provided by the tutor where required to alert a student and their parent(s) or guardian(s) to any problems, but failure to improve in this regard may prevent a student from graduating.
  • Students must treat the 12-week course as if it was an employment situation. Any action that could result if a verbal or written warning from an employer may result in the student not being able to graduate.
  • The Tutor, the Academy's property and fellow students must be treated with consideration and respect. The course Tutor will be very clear as to the Academy's expectations. No expectations will be unreasonable.
  • Students must adhere to the Auto Super Shoppes Automotive Academy's Code of Conduct and such health and safety policies as shall be adopted by the Academy from time to time. Students will be presented with a copy of the Code of Conduct upon application and will be asked to return a signed copy with their application. Students will also be presented with a copy of any health and safety policies upon commencement of the Course. Any breaches of the Code of Conduct may result in the student not being able to graduate.
  • Prior to graduation each Student will have a meeting with the Tutor and a member of the Auto Super Shoppe Management team to assess the current employment opportunities within the group. They will be offered a 90 day trial in either an Auto Super Shoppe or one of the Automotive Parts supplier companies that are associated with the Academy. Consideration will be given to the students preferred location, preferred career path, their strengths and attributes demonstrated throughout the duration of the course and where possible students will be offered a position in line with their first preferences.


ASSAA Code of Conduct

  • On premises, students will treat all others, and be treated with fairness, honesty, integrity, and openness. They will be expected to respect the opinions of others and treat all with equality and dignity without regard to gender, race, colour, creed, political beliefs, religion, marital status, disability, age, or sexual orientation.
  • No behaviour that is abusive in any manner towards the Tutor, fellow students or any member of the Auto Super Shoppe Academy staff will be tolerated. This includes verbal abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and emotional abuse. Any occurrences must be reported to the ASSAA Management immediately and may involve further Authorities.
  • Students must turn up every day on time, in a well presented uniform, with the right tools and be ready to start by 8am every day.
  • Students must pay attention to the tutor and must not distract or be distracted by others.
  • If a student is unable to attend any day of the course due on any day it is expected that will (where possible) call the Tutor by 7am to advise they will not be able to attend. They will be asked to offer an explanation and in the event of illness or injury they may be required to supply a medial certi cate.
  • Following any absenteeism, the student will be expected to catch up on the work missed. The Tutor will offer support for the student to catch up on missed work only if it does not impact on the learning schedules of any other students.
  • Unexplained or regular absenteeism, regardless of the reasons, may result in a student not being able to graduate.
  • The ASSAA is an alcohol and drug free workplace. Any students suspected to be under the in uence of drugs or alcohol may be subject to testing.
  • Any students testing positive for drugs or alcohol will be evicted from the course immediately.
